As usual, BBC News has posted images of the paintings shortlisted for the BP Portrait Award, worth £25,000; but this year's gallery comes with a hint of BBC panic: WARNING: This gallery contains pictures that show nudity (title link). I would spare you the gross image below if I could, but Auntie by Aleah Chapin is my favourite to win. The subject evinced great courage and a sense of humour in posing for this painting. So the artist conveys Auntie's personality as well as her naked figure, and it is a fine painting. There is no hint of psychology in the other 3 shortlisted works. They are merely paintings of uninspiring subjects. The winner will be announced on 19 June, two days before the exhibition opens at the National Portrait Gallery in London (CLICK).
